The DUP’s South Belfast MP Emma Little-Pengelly said,
“This is a test of the Sinn Fein leadership’s commitment to “respect, honesty and integrity”.
The Party’s West Tyrone MP posted a grossly offensive video. People across these islands have condemned the video mocking the Kingsmill Massacre. He should hang his head in shame.
Whilst Barry McElduff deleted the video and apologised, major questions still stand for what action the SF leadership will take against the elected representatives who posted the video. Mairtin O’Muilleoir has never apologised for retweeting the video. Michelle O’Neill, Mary-Lou McDonald and Gerry Adams have all been silent.
This matter has caused incredible outrage throughout the community with some making complaints to the Parliamentary Standards Commissioner. Regardless of what explanation Barry McElduff offers, the facts are uncompromising.
Of all the products in the shop, and of all the brands of bread in the shop it’s very bizarre why Mr McElduff chose Kingsmill. Indeed, even stranger as to why he chose to do this on the 42nd anniversary of that barbaric act when ten innocent men were shot because they were Protestant. The SF leadership must condemn this crass action.”
