East Antrim DUP candidate Gordon Lyons has welcomed the latest Labour Market Statistics published today.
He said, “The latest Labour Market Statistics published today, signals that our economy is continuing to grow.
It is promising to see that year on year unemployment decreased from a rate of 7.5 per-cent in 2013 to 5.8 per-cent in 2016. It signals the clear commitment of the DUP to get more and better jobs into Northern Ireland. Global companies have recognised that we provide a great place to do business and these figures are prove fruitful in that.
February is also the first month in which we have data provided showing two full quarters since the EU referendum. It overall paints a positive picture for our economy which is continuing to grow, with unemployment still on the decrease. The doom and gloom predicted upon leaving the EU has not happened and we must continue to build upon our successes as a strong economy.
The DUP committed to more jobs and rising incomes in May. Our priority on this has not changed, but in order to do that it is important that we have an Assembly back working for the people of Northern Ireland.”
