02 January 2020

Following an incident in Kesh where an off-duty police officer was confronted by a masked man with a shotgun DUP Leader Arlene Foster MLA said,

Arlene Foster MLA

Leader of the Democratic Unionist Party

Arlene Foster

“The brazen attempted murder of a police officer in Kesh, Co. Fermanagh is an outrageous attack on a public servant and must be condemned.

It is a reminder of the threat and danger that police officers face on a daily basis as they try to protect our community.

I have spoken with the police.  They request that anyone with information which may be of use to their investigation should come forward.”

DUP Policing Board member Mervyn Storey MLA added

“This is a chilling reminder of the threat faced by our police officers. There remains a small core of people in our society determined to drag us all backwards and to engage in violence and terrorism.

We must stand united with our police service and all those who serve the community. It is vital that police officers remain vigilant about their personal security and I want to send my best wishes to the officer in Kesh and to their family following this traumatic incident.”
