Following a meeting with GMB Union officials at the European Parliament, Diane Dodds MEP said:
Member of the EU Agriculture and Rural Development Committee, Substitute member of the EU Fisheries Committee
“I was delighted to welcome representatives of the GMB to Brussels as part of our ongoing engagement to keep Bombardier jobs in Belfast secure. Clearly, we have been bolstered and reassured by the recent link up with Airbus which provided a much needed boost for the C-series project - but we are not complacent, we know that there is always work to be done.
In a very positive meeting we discussed not only our hopes for the future of the C-series but also what can be done to continue to safeguard those jobs, and protect our manufacturing industry, into the future.
The DUP will continue to engage with the UK government and key stakeholders in Bombardier. We continue to bring our weight to bear in support of our local workforce and the families that depend on them. The Bombardier workers can rest assured we will use the tools and influence at our disposal both in Brussels, and at Westminster, in the interests of Bombardier and the Northern Ireland economy.”
