DUP Health Spokesperson Paula Bradley MLA has welcomed the announcement that a further £70million secured through the DUP’s Confidence and Supply agreement is to be used to benefit patients across Northern Ireland.
The North Belfast MLA said, “Our focus through the Confidence and Supply Agreement is to deliver for everyone living in Northern Ireland. The focus on transformation and primary care in the latest funding announcement are particularly important.
Whilst previous investment in tackling waiting lists was obviously necessary and very welcome, the areas receiving funding through this announcement can help tackle the root cause of some of these issues. Investing in our GP surgeries and community services can reduce the pressures on hospitals and ensure people receive their treatment quickly and closer to home. I look forward to seeing the results of this initiative.
It was the DUP which set in train the transformation process. It is obviously disappointing that there is no Minister in place to take a leadership role in this process. We want to see a devolved Minister in charge as soon as possible. However, in the absence of an Executive I am delighted that leadership from the DUP is delivering for everyone in our community.”
