Lagan Valley DUP candidate Sir Jeffrey Donaldson addressed a hustings event organised by the CBI this morning.
Parliamentary Chief Whip; Spokesman on Defence and business in the House of Commons
Speaking after the event he said, “The DUP has put forward a 12 point plan to get Northern Ireland moving again. We are taking the lead with a positive agenda for the future and that includes the business community.
It is not enough to just complain from the sidelines, we must all use our influence to deliver for the entire community. The last two years have demonstrated how the DUP ensured the needs of business and the wider community were put at the top of our agenda with funding for key infrastructure projects, broadband, health and education.
We want to get our economy moving again and have set out our plans for productivity, skills, infrastructure and business taxes. Proposals for a new Industrial Strategy, business leaders programme and Innovation Task Force can all help bridge the productivity gap between Northern Ireland and other parts of the United Kingdom.
The fundamental challenges our economy faces are skills and productivity and they are yet another reason why the Assembly should be restored immediately to place these at the centre of its future work.”
