North Antrim DUP MLA Mervyn Storey has welcomed an announcement by DFI Roads to erect new Stop signs at both the Clintyfinnan and Walkers Cross junctions.
Commenting Mervyn Storey said,
"Following a meeting that I attended on Friday afternoon along with Robin Swann MLA, I am pleased that DFI Roads have agreed to erect Stop Signs and rumble strips at the junctions of Clintyfinnan and Walkers Cross.
For sometime I along with other public representatives and members of the public have been calling for further measures to be put in place at these junctions. These particular locations have been the scene of some very serious accidents, near misses and unfortunately last October at the Clintyfinnan Cross Roads the death of Mr Michael Monroe from the United States.
The detail of the measures include not only Engineering but also Education and Enforcement.
These measures I trust will give greater safety to the local community and also to visitors and those not familiar with the area.
I would also thank a local land owner for his help and assistance at the Clintyfinnan Cross Roads along with officials for DFI who have also agreed to monitor the locations after the measures they have been put in place.
We hope that this work can now be expedited shortly. This work is welcome improvement to road safety in the area."
