Foyle DUP MLA Gary Middleton has welcomed the announcement of more than £100 million of government funding for the north west.
Mr Middleton said, “Following the signing of Heads of Terms for the Belfast City Region Deal it is important that progress is made on other deals. The DUP wants to see all parts of Northern Ireland benefiting from City Deals and it is important to see the Londonderry/Strabane bid moving forward.
Back in 2017 my colleague Gregory Campbell secured a commitment from the then Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government on engagement with local stakeholders, and both myself and Arlene Foster held discussions last year with the Council and Foyle Port on the role a City Deal could play as a catalyst for business growth and job creation.
Bringing more and better jobs to Northern Ireland has been a DUP priority and the inclusion of City Deals into the Confidence and Supply agreement has helped move this forward for both Belfast and the north west regions.”
