East Londonderry DUP MLA George Robinson has expressed delight that Loganair are to secure the Londonderry - Glasgow air route at the City Airport.
Mr Robinson said, “Loganair has an affinity with airport, serving it in the past and so this announcement is very welcome for everyone in the North West. The Glasgow route was popular for many reasons aiding to tourism and businesses opportunities.
As a result of the Loganair announcement, the airline will provide a direct route between Londonderry to one of Scotland's major cities. This type of connectivity will to be a real boost to our local economy as it adds another selling point for the North West to attract investment and build upon a growing tourism industry.
I look forward to seeing the route operate from October, which comes just after Ryanair will discontinue this route. It will provide local people living in the North West with quick, easy access to other parts of the UK. This route has always been popular and I would encourage people to continue using the service when it comes into operation."
