Commenting Joanne Bunting MLA said, "This is a truly shocking and appalling incident. Grangewood is a quiet residential area and this news will be worrying for the residents.

My first thoughts are with the victim and his family. I trust and pray he will make a full and speedy recovery.

I would appeal to the Dundonald community to be careful and if you see anyone acting suspiciously in your neighbourhood, or intruding on your property, please call the police in the first instance. It is important that nobody is put in harm's way even though your first instinct may be to protect your property.

The police are seeking information from anyone who saw a man in his 20s acting suspiciously in the Grangewood/Dunlady/Ballyregan area between 9 and 9.30 this morning. If you know or saw anything, please call 101 without delay."

Gavin Robinson MP said, "I am appalled to hear that someone suffered this horrendous attack in their own property. It would have been a terrifying ordeal for the homeowner.

Those responsible clearly do not believe in law and order and it is important they are apprehended for their actions.

I have been speaking to the Chief Inspector on this. He would like to hear from anyone with any information and I would urge anyone with details to get in touch with the Police."
