22 March 2017
On 22 March the city of Brussels, home of the European Parliament, marks a year since the terrorist attacks at Brussels Airports and Maelbeek Metro Station.
Member of the EU Agriculture and Rural Development Committee, Substitute member of the EU Fisheries Committee
Northern Ireland MEP Diane Dodds said:
"Each time arrive at Brussels Airport to fly back to Northern Ireland I pass a memorial to the victims of the terrorist attacks by Islamic extremists that rocked this city on 22 March.
Each time I remember that some of those people were right where I am standing, taking similar trips. Ordinary people going about their lives: working, commuting and perhaps even going or returning from holidays. Today we take the opportunity to remember them, to stand in solidarity with their loved ones and reflect of the futility of terrorism.”
