East Londonderry MP Gregory Campbell has welcomed the opening of the new Train Station in Portrush.
DUP Spokesman on International Development and Cabinet Office
Mr Campbell who visited the Station last week said, “This is good news for the North Coast that the new Train Station is opening this week in Northern Ireland‘s premier tourist resort, Portrush. It coincides with the forthcoming bus and train week that Translink are launching.
The new fully accessible Train Station will complement the major public realm and revitalisation of the town that has been undertaken in advance of the 148th Open Golf Championship at Royal Portrush, in addition there has been multi-million pound private sector redevelopments going on in the vicinity.
The new station with modern waiting facilities, improved passenger information and signage to local amenities will be a focal point at the hub of Portrush. It should encourage passenger numbers to the town and increase visitors to the North Coast contributing to the economic development, not only of Portrush, but to the wider region. The key now is to build upon this so that an enduring economic legacy flows from projects such as this."
