Strangford MP Jim Shannon has called upon the Government to ensure there is no undue delay in Parliament voting upon the proposal for a third runway at Heathrow. He raised the issue at Prime Minister’s Questions today in the House of Commons.
Speaking afterwards the DUP MP said, “I welcome the Transport Secretary’s announcement of Government support for a third runway at Heathrow. Heathrow is important not just for London, but is vital to the United Kingdom as a whole. Its development can help secure additional jobs including in Northern Ireland, encourage business growth and realise our tourism potential.
With the Government having now outlined its support it is important that the process does not now face any undue delays. I am glad that the Prime Minister recognised the importance that Heathrow plays for connectivity within the United Kingdom and that the vote would happen in a timely manner.
I look forward to seeing this moving forward and Parliament having a say on this important infrastructure project as soon as possible.”
